The Explorer

 When Kira Salak was 24 she took a year off graduated school Kira Salak is a famous explorer.  She  is an American writer, journalist and an adventurer.

Kira Salak is one of five people in the world to receive a 2005 National Geographic  Society Emerging Explorer Awards. Kira Salak was born September 4, 1971 in Chicago.

She cycled about 800 miles across Alaska to the Arctic Ocean. She was the first person to kayak alone 600 miles down West Africa's Niger River to Timbuktu. Kira Salak was the first women to cross Papua New Guinea following the same path as a British explorer Ivan Champion in 1927.

When Kira Salak was 24 she took a year off graduated school to travel around Papua New Guinea.When Kira Salak was 24 she  took a year off graduate school to backpack around Papua New Guinea, the Pacific Island nation, and became the first woman to cross the country.

Kira Salak is a famous explorer. She travels the world and writes about her amazing adventures.
